Stop the endless scroll on Linkedin, I see you π
How to use your time wisely in your job search search
Donβt you just hate it when you sit down to write something but end up scrolling for 2 hours?
The job search can often become an endless scroll through Linkedin. π»
Your eyes π start to glaze over and at that point, you can safely walk away from your laptop.
Take a long break. π
How to stop the scroll and get back in the game?
Break up your job search activities by times of day or days of the week.
Do NOT do everything at once.
Please please, do not β
customize your resume for every job app
spend more than 2 minutes coming up with a custom INTRO message for every person you want to connect with
spend 5 minutes just to find one person to send a message too
spend 10 minutes reading every job description
Structure your time to use it wisely
When you're spending week after week applying but not getting any interviews or even feedback - try this:
Spend 10% of your time applying to jobs (that means no more than 2 hours per week)
Spend 40% of your time networking (DM, connection calls, reviewing Linkedin feed for people who are hiring, about 4 hours per week)
Spent 20% of your time on connection calls or interviewing (around 2-3 hours per week)
Spend 10% of your time engaging on Linkdin (around 1 hr per week, can be 15 min per day)
Spend 10% of your time for interview prep (around 1 hour per week)
MOST importantly, Go outside, and spend your time doing something you enjoy.
The job search is NOT jail time π , stop locking yourself indoors staring at a screen.
You can adjust the schedule and timing of activities based on your lifestyle and personal schedule.
