With a background in Sales, moving into Engineering was a big change!
After completing an engineering bootcamp in 2022, his job search stalled and he picked it back up in June 2023 when he joined the coaching program.
Aiden is also an immigrant, having moved from Turkey to the US years ago, so networking did not come naturally to him, but once he got started, he was reaching out to 100 new people EVERY week.
Within 5 months of joining the program, Aiden landed the interview that turned into an offer to join a high-growth startup, his FIRST job in tech. π
Hereβs how it happened.
Over the past 5 months, he was networking non-stop. Once he joined the program, he learned how to reach out to developers, hiring managers, recruiters, and other employees.
At the end of the job search, he reached out to more than 800+ new people within 5 months, with a response rate of 15%, he was in conversation with 10-15 new people EVERY week.
He also started posting on Linkedin, about his career journey. Posting at least once a week, helped him keep in touch with his new connections.
Every week he:
β applied to 30+ jobs
β directly connected to 100+ new people
β worked on practicing technical skills
β posted about his career journey
The Job Offer π
Finally, he applied to a role where he was a perfect fit for the job description. This was a Frontend Developer role at a startup that was remote first, and growing quickly. He applied!
The first thing he did was reach out to the people at this startup. Over the next few weeks, Aiden was talking with 5+ people at the startup. Multiple people ended up passing along his resume directly to the hiring manager.
One month after he applied, he got an email inviting him to an interview.
Turns out, this startup was waiting to interview candidates before a new Recruiter was hired. When the new Recruiter came on board, Aidenβs resume was already in the queue, in fact, the hiring manager was expecting to interview him since he was already referred to the role by multiple employees.
After a Technical Interview and a Culture Fit interview, Aiden got the offer. π
During his time in the program, he worked with a Job Search Coach to:

β Learn how to maintain relationships with people who can help in the future
