If you have 0-3 years of experience in tech, you're better off going π local in your job search.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of remote work, but what's better than remote work? Being employed ππ with your first job in tech!
WHY look for Hybrid and Onsite roles?
β‘οΈ Less competition, only applicants in your city
β‘οΈ People you can connect w in person + actually get to know
β‘οΈ Early career people can benefit from having in-person touchpoints with their team as they are getting onboarded and used to working in tech
Did I mention less competition? No 1000+ applications, etc?
Yup, go back to the market pre-2020, and you get the job search strategy everyone was doing for a long time, focusing on their local market.
So - IF you are not landing interviews applying to those very attractive remote roles - try local π you may even meet people who can become real friends!
Where to start:
- Try Meetup or Eventbrite for IRL events
- Find virtual communities that have chapters that meet in person
- Reach out to new ppl based on location
- Create job filters for roles in your city or state (or where you want to move)
Networking works, take it to the 'local' level to get noticed. π
